Here are some of the activities that the VHC Medical Brigade has worked on:

  • Annual shipments of 40-foot ocean containers of humanitarian healthcare medicine, equipment, and supplies (2009 included),
  • Brigade trained, supervised, and supplied Community Health Workers (6) and clinics in two remote villages,
  • Local Water Board capacitation for the supervision of public health, potable water, and sanitation infrastructure initiatives in 9 remote mountain villages – increased from 2 villages last year,
  • “Wish List” acquisition and other support for 2 Comayagua community hospitals, Regional Hospital Santa Teresa and Centro Medico San Benito Jose – increased from 1 hospital last year,
  • CasAyuda School for disabled and hearing impaired children, through which we provide the only audiology services in the region,
  • Comayagua Rehabilitation Center support, the only PT facility in the area,
  • Valle Bonito Orphanage – ongoing support,
  • Comayagua Lions Club – medicines and supplies support for the 4 medical/dental brigades the Lions hold annually.

VHC Medical Brigade member (D. Tiedge) recently went to San Antonio de la Libertad to take photos of the poster that was painted on the side of there 1st Water Tower. This potable water project in Valle Bonito was completed providing that community of 1800 with clean, drinkable water piped into every home.
