After months of hard work by so many Brigade members and supporters, our 40 foot container was loaded on Saturday, 9/12 and is on its way to Honduras. It was packed with critical medications, OR equipment, medical supplies, PT and audiology supplies and other items of humanitarian aid needed to serve the poor by sustaining the work of our partners in Comayagua: the Lions Club, the Regional Hospital Santa Teresa, the San Benito Jose Hospital, CasAyuda and the Comayagua Rehabilitation Center. For the Community Health Workers in our 2 Remote Village Project locations, we sent medication, equipment, supplies and furnishings and for our newly constructed Clinic Building (funded jointly by the Peace Corps and the Brigade) in San Antonio de la Libertad we included examination tables and furniture.

A special thanks to all involved for their time, their efforts, and for the many donations they solicited. Our commitment continues as we prepare for our Brigade Mission Trip in November of 2010.

Tomorrow is the last work session before the container is loaded this Saturday morning
starting at 8 AM

Over the past weeks and months, we’ve worked hard to sort, pack and label the supplies, equipment and pharmaceuticals in our warehouse.

Tomorrow night from 7 to 9 PM we’ll be putting the finishing touches on our cargo including final boxing of items and building and shrink wrapping the pallets. And then, believe it or not, our 40 foot ocean container will ship out in just 3 days, on Saturday, 9/12.

On Saturday morning starting at 8 AM we’ll begin the process of moving everything to the loading dock and loading it on the container. The entire process should be finished by 11:30 or noon. Donuts, coffee and other beverages will be served.

Please come and help tomorrow and/or Saturday. Family and friends are welcome!

Thanks,
Barry
