Addressing the Water Crisis in Honduras

Many of the rural communities in Honduras lack daily access to clean water. Those with access to local water sources face shortages due to structural failures that shut down distribution for days on end. Others are forced to resort to unclean water sources. Therefore, families without a dependable water supply wait several days to bathe, wash hands, clean, prepare food, and quench thirst...

Left without clean water to drink and prepare food, families in Honduras suffer from diarrhea and sickness. To address this critical need, the Brigade has invested extensively in bringing clean, drinkable water supplies to remote villages – including two new villages in the last year – but the work does not stop there.

Malnutrition and food insecurity have only increased in the wake of the pandemic. However, after two years of schools being closed due to COVID, classes have finally resumed. As every teacher knows, children do not learn as effectively when hungry. Thankfully, we have an opportunity to kickstart our school feeding project and deliver daily meals to schools. This food will encourage children to return to the classroom, improve their health and help them succeed with their education.

The Brigade needs donations to ship the food directly to children in Honduras. We have pallets of food ready to distribute to schools where mothers have volunteered to cook daily meals in shifts! Every little bit helps! Please give today and share with those in your circle to help meet the need.
