Mark Kerrigan’s work experience spans more than 30 years in the energy consulting, software development and public policy. Following graduate school, Mark came to Washington DC as a Presidential Management Intern. He started his career at the White House Office of Management and Budget (OMB) in 1980, where he advised on budget and policy issues. In 1989, he was named Deputy Under secretary for Policy at the Department of Energy (DOE). Among his duties, he was a delegate to the UN Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change. He oversaw the development of the National Energy Strategy, which became the Energy Policy Act of 1992. Key among the many things this act achieved was promoting new technology for energy diversity including the expanded use of renewable energy and alternatively fueled vehicles.

In 1992, Mark became the manager of the energy practice at Science Applications International Corporation (SAIC). At SAIC, Mark’s team supported various government and commercial energy research and consulting efforts. After SAIC’s IPO in 2007, Mark started Amstar Energy Group which supported solar and bio fuel projects as well as helped launch Phoenix Energy Technology Company, an internet based energy services company that was sold to Duke Energy in 2017. He is an investor and board member of a new energy management software company based in Los Angeles called Facil.ai. Also, he serves as Chairman of the Board of the Virginia Hospital Center Medical Brigade. He is a member of the ASU Alumni Association Board of Directors. He has been a member of the Board of Visitors at Indiana University, where he received the Alumni of the Year Award at the School of Public and Environmental Affairs.

In March 2009, Mark received the James W. Creasman Award from the ASU Alumni Association in recognition of his contribution to ASU’s international initiatives. Following a Bachelor of Science Degree from Arizona State University, he spent a year studying economics and law at Adelaide University in Australia. He received a Masters degree from the School of Public and Environmental Affairs at Indiana University in 1978. He lives with his wife Susan in Falls Church,Virginia.
